Scuba Hawaii

Scuba Hawaii is high on the list of things to do in Hawaii.

It does not matter whether you are just interested in trying it out, or a certified scuba diver, there are many locations to dive. The water temperature at its coldest is 75° in February and 82° at its warmest in October. In the waters off Kona, on the big Island, visibility of over 100 feet is common. |
|
You can choose boat dives or shore dives.
On the big Island most boats leave from Kailua Pier, Honokohau Harbor and Kawaihae harbor.
On Maui diving can be incredible. The calm waters off West and South Maui mean boat rides are short. Maui has two excellent off shore dives. West Maui has Lanai Cathedrals II and South Maui boasts the back wall of Molokini.

Although the island of Kauai is not necessarily famous for its scuba diving, this is a shame. Kauai has some excellent diving locations. Big sea turtles are common, lava tubes, and fish are common.
The coral growth is not as good as it is around the big Island.

The Island of Oahu is the ship wreck capital of Hawaii. Diving takes place all over the island however Waianae is the best in terms of conditions. The water is very calm most of the year and visibility can be over 100 feet.

You will have the opportunity to see what happens to a sunken ship after a quarter of a century under water. You can partially enter the ship and don't be surprised to see patrols of spotted eagle rays flying in formation.
