Honolulu is the state capital as well as Hawaii's largest city. It includes Waikiki with thousands of hotels, restaurants, boutique shops and nightclubs. Millions of visitors each year visit Waikiki Beach.

Oahu (usually Oahu outside Hawaiian and Hawaiian English), known as "The Gathering Place", is the third largest of the Hawaiian Islands and most populous of the islands in the State of Hawaii. The island is home to about 900,000 people (approximately 75% of the resident population of the state).

The tropical landscape of Kauai is simply breathtaking. Kauai is the oldest of the main Hawaiian Islands. With an area of 552.3 square miles, it is the fourth largest of the main islands in the Hawaiian archipelago and the 21st largest island in the United States. Known also as the "Garden Isle", Kauai lies 105 miles across the Kauai Channel, northwest of Oahu.

The island of Maui is the second-largest of the Hawaiian Islands at 727.2 square miles and is the 17th largest island in the United States. Maui is part of the state of Hawaii and is the largest island in Maui County. Three other islands, Lanai, Kahoolawe, and Molokai, also belong to Maui County. Together, the four islands are known as Maui Nui.

The Island of Hawaii (called the Big Island or Hawaii Island) is a volcanic island in the U.S. state of Hawaii in the Pacific Ocean. With an area of 4,028 square miles , it is the largest island in the United States and larger than all of the other Hawaiian Islands combined.

Hawaii is said to have been named for Hawaiiloa, the legendary Polynesian navigator who first discovered it. However, information on Hawaii finds other accounts attribute the name to the legendary land or realm of Hawaiki, a place from which the Polynesians originated (see also Manua), the place where they go in the afterlife, the realm of the gods.

Molokai is an island in the Hawaiian archipelago. It is 38 by 10 miles in size with a land area of 260.0 square miles, making it the fifth largest of the main Hawaiian Islands and the 27th largest island in the United States. Information on Hawaii indicates it lies east of Oahu across the 25-mile wide Kaiwi Channel and north of Lānai, separated from it by the Kalohi Channel.

Molokai is built from two distinct volcanoes known as East Molokai and the much smaller West Molokai.

Lānai is the sixth-largest of the Hawaiian Islands. It is also known as the Pineapple Island because of its past as an island-wide pineapple plantation. The only town is Lānai City, a small settlement. The island is somewhat comma-shaped, with a width of 18 miles in the longest direction. The land area is 140.5 square miles, making it the 42nd largest island in the United States.
