The beautiful laua`e fern design is woven into the rayon fabric and is perfectly stunning! Very subtle, but definitely Hawaiian on closer inspection.
The real Queen Kaahumanu was, no doubt, one of the most influential figures in Hawaiian history. The favorite wife of King Kamehameha the Great, she was also beloved by the people of Hawaii and widely respected.

Shown below, The holoku of old Hawaii was an elegant, if conservative, formal tea dress, with its high neck, long sleeves, and lace. We are delighted to present our Kawehi Hawaiian Wedding Holoku, a modern, stylish version of the Hawaiian holoku for the 21st century.
Backless, strapless and fully lined with satin and including a gorgeous ruffled train (which has a little "handle" as all holokus do so the wearer can walk freely), this holoku is truly as stunning as it is unique.

Maile, the character in Blue Hawaii who married Elvis at the end of the movie, wore a holoku as her wedding gown as the two lovebirds serenaded each other with the Hawaiian Wedding Song as they floated down a river on a canoe toward wedded bliss.
