Tattoing is one of the oldest arts practiced in mankind. They are found all over the world.
The 'Ice Man' who was discovered in Alps several years ago, had 57 different tattoos.
Egyptians from over 4000 years ago show tattoo designs of dots and dashes.
The earliest examples have been found on a body of a cheftain warrior whose back, shoulders and chest bore illustrations of animals, fish and members of the cat family.

Some tips are obvious, but NEVER get a tattoo without ensuring that you are in a facility that is not going to compromise your long term health. Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C are potential risks. Take the time to choose the right studio.

All tattoo instruments should be sterilized in an autoclave. This unit has steam, heat and pressure putting the instruments through a similar process as that used in hospitals.

Always check the tattoo artist's certificates. These should be on display. It is not out of line to ak if the artist has been vaccinated again Hepatitis B and they should always be wearing gloves when working on your body. Watch to ensure that the needle to be used on your body, comes directly from the sterilized enclave.

Do not drink alcohol before you go to your tattoo appointment. This can cause excessive bleeding -- not a good idea. It does hurt when you receive a tattoo, but alcohol consumption should not be used to mask that pain. Before you make your decision, decide if you can handle the physical discomfort.
