During the month of January, the MasterCard Championship takes place at Hawaii Islands Four Seasons Resort Hualalai. This tournament opens the champions tour season. The Mercedes championships on Kapalua Resorts Plantation Course in Maui often features the likes of Tiger Woods, and Ernie Els. The Sony Open also takes place in the month of January. This tournament is held at the Wai'alae Country Club on Oahu. The Wendy's Champions Skins Game is held at Maui's Wailea Golf Club. Kapalua Resort on Maui boasts three courses, with tall evergreen trees, long lush fairways all running down to the sea. One of the busiest municipal courses in the world is located on the island of Oahu. It is the Ala Wai Golf. Hawaii Turtle Bay Resort and Golf Club located on the north shore features a two courses. One designed by Arnold Palmer, and the other designed by George Fazio. On the Arnold Palmer back nine you will be taken through tropical forests and wetlands bird sanctuary. Also on the island of Oahu, is the Ko'olau Golf Club. This golf course is considered to be the toughest in all of the United States featuring extreme elevation changes and deep winding ravines.
